Pocket WiFi in Marrakech: price and how it works
A pocket WiFi, also called a portable WiFi or MiFi, is a small box that picks up 4G and shares it over WiFi. The Rent A Phone device is a TP-Link 4G router on the Maroc Telecom network, with unlimited data. It fits in a pocket or a day bag, and every phone, tablet and laptop in your group joins it with the same password. Your own SIM stays in your phone: turn off data roaming and you avoid roaming charges.
The price is €4.90 per day per router, with a 2-day minimum: €9.80 for a weekend, €34.30 for a week, €68.60 for two weeks, however many people connect. Two extras are available: a power bank at €1.90 a day and a car phone holder at €0.90 a day. You pay online by card, in euros. The €50 deposit is a card hold taken after payment: it is not charged and is released when the router comes back.
Delivery to your riad or hotel: how it works

- Get the confirmation by email, with your delivery details.
- We deliver to your accommodation at the time you chose, between 9 am and 6 pm.
- Switch it on in front of the courier and connect a first phone with the network name and password supplied.

We deliver to wherever you are staying in Marrakech. A few examples: a riad in the medina or the Mellah, a hotel in Hivernage or Gueliz, a villa in the Palmeraie, an apartment in Agdal. In the medina, give the exact name of the riad and a phone number we can reach. Landing in Marrakech after 6 pm? Choose delivery the next morning. Leaving before 9 am? Book the pick-up for the day before. The full rental process is explained in how to rent a WiFi router in Morocco, and day-to-day use in the WiFi router user guide.
Maroc Telecom coverage in Marrakech and on day trips
The router runs on the Maroc Telecom network only, in 4G. In its April 2026 report (data from January to March 2026), Opensignal named Maroc Telecom the best mobile network in Morocco, with the top coverage score (9.2 out of 10) and a typical download speed of 27.5 Mbps. In town, that is plenty for browsing, maps and video calls.
What changes your connection most in Marrakech is the building. Thick riad walls and rooms facing an inner courtyard weaken the signal indoors, for a router as much as for a phone. Put the router near a window, in the courtyard or on the roof terrace, and it will share WiFi through the room.
The router comes with you out of town, anywhere Maroc Telecom 4G reaches. The operator says its 4G covers 99% of the population (operator figure, 2025): towns, villages and main roads, not every valley. No operator publishes a detailed map for the places below, so here is what you can reasonably expect.
| Day trip from Marrakech | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Agafay desert | Depends on the camp: ask them beforehand which network works there. |
| Ourika valley | Signal comes and goes, especially beyond Setti Fatma. |
| Imlil, Toubkal | Patchy and directional: signal on a ridge, none in the dip below. |
| Essaouira, Ouarzazate | In town, Maroc Telecom 4G is generally available (the operator reports 99% of the population covered by 4G); it is on the road, notably over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, that you may lose signal. |
Before a day out, download an offline map of the area, and for a long day take the power bank: the router lasts up to 8 hours. Operator-by-operator detail is in our article on mobile network coverage in Morocco, and the Sahara in phone signal in the Moroccan desert.
Watch out
The router is received and returned in Marrakech. If your trip ends in another city, such as Fez or Casablanca, without coming back through Marrakech, an eSIM is the simpler choice.
Pocket WiFi, eSIM or SIM card in Marrakech?
| Option | Price for 7 days | Devices | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rent A Phone pocket WiFi | €34.30 for the whole group, unlimited | Up to 10 | Delivered to your accommodation in Marrakech |
| eSIM Maroc | €24 per phone (1 GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps) | 1 eSIM-compatible phone | Online, before you travel |
| Moroccan operator SIM or eSIM | About €11 per phone (Orange Marhaba, unlimited) | 1 phone, with a Moroccan number | In a shop or online, with ID |
eSIM and SIM prices checked on 13 October 2026 on each provider’s website.
It mostly comes down to how many of you there are. An eSIM is paid per phone: for two people, a week with eSIM Maroc costs €48; for four, €96. The router costs €34.30 a week for the whole group, and it also connects a laptop or a tablet with no SIM. The trade-off: you have to keep it charged and carry it.
A Moroccan operator SIM is the cheapest and gives you a real local number, handy for calling a riad or a driver; it needs ID and a visit to a shop or an online purchase. eSIMs for Marrakech are compared in eSIM in Marrakech, SIM cards in buy a local SIM in Morocco, and real costs by traveller profile in pocket WiFi vs eSIM in Morocco.
Our verdict
Two or more people, several devices, a laptop, or a phone that does not take an eSIM: the Rent A Phone pocket WiFi, delivered to your accommodation. Travelling alone with a recent compatible phone: eSIM Maroc (€24 for 7 days), installed before you leave. Need a Moroccan number: a Moroccan operator SIM or eSIM.
Why the router is not delivered to the airport
Since 21 October 2026, Rent A Phone delivers only to your accommodation, no longer to the airport. The router is handed to you where you sleep, at the time you chose between 9 am and 6 pm, and collected from the same place: no meeting point to find in an arrivals hall, and a delayed flight does not affect your delivery.
For the ride from the plane to your accommodation, prepare before you fly: save the address and phone number of your riad or hotel, download an offline map of Marrakech and, if your accommodation offers a transfer, book it. If you want data the moment you land, an eSIM installed at home covers you until delivery. Everything is in our guide to getting online on arrival in Morocco.
Watch out
The booking form does not accept an airport address: enter the address of your riad, hotel or apartment in Marrakech.

Pocket WiFi in Marrakech: frequently asked questions
How much is a pocket WiFi in Marrakech?
At Rent A Phone, €4.90 per day per router, with a 2-day minimum, so €34.30 for a week. Data is unlimited and the price does not depend on how many devices connect (up to 10). A €50 deposit is taken as a card hold, not charged.
Can I get a pocket WiFi at Marrakech airport?
Not from Rent A Phone. Since 21 October 2026, the router is delivered and collected only at your accommodation in Marrakech (riad, hotel, apartment), between 9 am and 6 pm. For the ride from the airport, an offline map or an eSIM installed before you fly is enough.
What time is the router delivered?
At the time you choose when booking, between 9 am and 6 pm, at the address of your accommodation in Marrakech. If you arrive after 6 pm, choose delivery the next morning; if you leave before 9 am, book the pick-up for the day before.
Does the pocket WiFi work outside Marrakech, in Agafay or the Ourika valley?
Yes, anywhere Maroc Telecom 4G reaches; the operator says it covers 99% of the population. In the mountains, such as the Ourika valley or Imlil, signal can come and go; at an Agafay camp, ask the camp which network works. The router is then returned in Marrakech.
How many devices can connect to the router?
Up to 10 at the same time: phones, tablets, laptops. The battery lasts up to 8 hours, and a power bank is available at €1.90 a day for long days out.
Pocket WiFi or eSIM in Marrakech: which is better?
For two or more people, or with a laptop, the pocket WiFi costs less: €34.30 a week for the whole group, against €24 per phone for 7 days with eSIM Maroc (prices as of 13 October 2026). Alone with a compatible phone, an eSIM is simpler: nothing to carry or return.
